Does Promoting on Telegram Actually Work?

If done right: YES!

In fact, Telegram is consistently ranked among the top 10 most downloaded mobile apps worldwide — with millions of new users joining every month.

Bar chart showing the leading mobile apps worldwide by downloads in June 2025 (in millions), according to Statista. ChatGPT leads with 50M downloads, followed by TikTok (37M), Instagram (36M), Facebook (30M), WhatsApp (28M), CapCut (24M), Temu (23M), Threads (22M), Snapchat (20M), and Telegram (19M).

This means your potential audience is not only massive but also growing, making it one of the most powerful platforms for promoting your business today.

Hi! I’m Maria, and I’ve been using Telegram to earn money and promote businesses for years. In this article, I’ll share the exact tactics I use — with real examples — so you can do the same.

3 Ways to Promote Your Business on Telegram

Advertising in Telegram Ads

Telegram Ads is the official platform that lets anyone run ads inside the Telegram app — similar to Facebook or Instagram.

These ads appear inside public channels with over 1,000 subscribers — right between regular posts.

The post promotes selling physical products through Tribute, with a 'Start selling physical products on Tribute' link and a 'Learn more in our knowledge base' link. Below the post is a Telegram Ad for 'Mobile: Roaming Internet eSIM' featuring three green star emojis, text reading 'eSIM internet for travel. Access everything, everywhere. All in Telegram,' and a green 'LAUNCH APP' button.

Telegram Ad Example: Snuppy AI

Snuppy AI — a startup offering AI-generated headshots and creative portraits — used Telegram Ads to attract new users.

Labels point to key elements: 'Eye-catching thumbnail' highlighting the striking portrait and roses; 'Clear brand positioning in the title' showing the title 'Snuppy AI | Headshot AI | Photo AI | Prompt'; 'Concise, benefit-driven copy' with the text 'Bring your ideas to life: generate beautiful photos in seconds'; and 'Strong call-to-action' pointing to the purple 'VIEW CHANNEL' button.

Here’s why this ad works:

  • Eye-catching thumbnail — realistic AI-generated portrait surrounded by vivid red roses, instantly standing out in the feed.
  • Clear brand positioning — “Snuppy AI | Headshot AI | Photo AI | Prompt” tells you exactly what it’s about.
  • Benefit-driven copy — “Bring your ideas to life: generate beautiful photos in seconds” focuses on speed and quality.
  • Strong CTA — the built-in “VIEW CHANNEL” button drives immediate clicks.

Telegram Ad Example: Mobile Roaming eSIM App

Another company promotes a mobile roaming eSIM service — perfect for travelers who need instant internet abroad.

All in Telegram.' Below is a green 'LAUNCH APP' button. Labels point to different elements: 'Social proof-like visual cue' for the star emojis, 'Minimalist design' for the plain green background, 'Clear headline' for the ad title, 'Benefit-focused description' for the product description, and 'Strong CTA' for the 'LAUNCH APP' button.

Why this ad works:

  • Minimalist design — plain green background with a single star emoji stands out against busier ads.
  • Clear headline — “Mobile: Roaming Internet eSIM” instantly communicates the product category.
  • Benefit-focused description — “Access everything, everywhere. All in Telegram.” highlights convenience and global reach.
  • Strong in-app CTA — “LAUNCH APP” encourages instant interaction without leaving Telegram.
  • Social proof cue — triple star emojis subtly signal quality and trust.

Advertising in Telegram Channels

Want to get sales without looking like you’re selling?

Use native advertising in Telegram channels — a post inside a popular channel written in the same style as its regular content.

These posts blend seamlessly into the feed and are either written by the channel’s author or in their style, so the audience sees them as valuable recommendations rather than intrusive ads.

Advertising in Telegram Channels Example: Trending Apps

Trending Apps (5.6M+ subscribers) is a community-powered hub that spotlights the most exciting Telegram apps from indie developers.

They ran a post about Nuts Farm — a gamified Web3 learning app — presented in the channel’s style as a recommendation.

Annotated screenshot of a native ad in the Telegram channel 'Trending Apps' (5.6M+ subscribers) promoting Nuts Farm, a gamified Web3 learning app. The left side shows the start of the post with a large pink star image (labeled 'Picture to stand out'), a hook headline 'Mini Apps in LP: Nuts Farm' (labeled 'Hook headline'), and a clear product description explaining the app's gamified Web3 education (labeled 'Clear product description'). The right side shows the continuation of the post with bullet points highlighting rewards — premium boxes, exclusive boosters, and access to a secret NFT (labeled 'Highlights rewards'), placement within the channel (labeled 'Perfect placement'), and a friendly closing encouraging readers to join (labeled 'Soft CTA').

Why it worked:

  • Hook headline + picture — instantly grabs attention in the feed.
  • Clear product description — explains what the app does and why it’s fun.
  • Highlights rewards — premium boxes, boosters, NFTs.
  • Soft CTA — invites people to “jump in” instead of “buy now.”
  • Perfect placement — promoted in a channel where users expect to discover new apps.

In my Telegram channels (Аналитика и growth mind-set, Analytics and growth mindset, Grow Telegram channel, Bot, Mini app) I post about other businesses in a way that feels natural, so my audience doesn’t realize it’s paid promotion.

Creating and Promoting Your Own Telegram Channel

Your own Telegram channel = your own media space.

You control the content, tone, and audience — and can build a community around your brand, giving you a space where you can make sales.

Telegram Channel as Marketing Example: Aviasales

Aviasales offers affordable flights worldwide with easy booking and flexible options. They run one of the most popular travel-related Telegram channels (284K+ subscribers). By sharing entertaining content, they strengthen their brand and boost sales.

Annotated screenshot of a Telegram post from the Aviasales channel (284,293 subscribers). The post shows a picture of two slices of bread on a plate with a caption asking users to name their price if sold at the airport. Labels point to different elements: 'Post with a picture' highlighting the image, 'Telegram Channel' indicating the channel name, 'Reactions' pointing to emoji reaction counts, 'Comments' showing 264 comments, and a 'Join Channel' button at the bottom.

Why Creating a Telegram Channel for Business Works:

  • Untapped audience – Reach people your competitors haven’t targeted yet.
  • Built-in growth tools – From Telegram Ads and Telegram Business to content features, you have everything you need to promote your business right inside the app.
  • Warmer audience – Unlike other social platforms, Telegram is a messenger. People are more likely to read every channel they subscribe to — including yours.

Telegram Channel as Marketing Example: My Products

I use my Telegram channels not only to earn from native ads for other businesses, but also to promote my own products — Telegram Hero Guide (a guide to promoting and monetizing Telegram channels), Telegram Channel Analyzer, and my consultation services.

For example, in my channel Grow Telegram channel, Bot (4.5K+ subscribers), I shared how I spent the summer learning instead of just resting — which helped me increase my ad rates from $500 to $1,500 per post.

At the end of the post, I linked directly to my Telegram Hero Guide.

Annotated screenshot of a Telegram post from the channel 'Grow Telegram channel, Bot…' (4,550 subscribers). The left side shows a July 11 post with a beach photo and text explaining how the author uses summer to improve skills, increasing ad rates from $500 to $1,500 per post, and planning a trip to Bangkok. Labels highlight 'Personal story' and 'Shows real results'. The right side continues the post, including a soft pitch with a direct link to the author's guide, an engagement call inviting reactions, and emoji reaction counts at the bottom. Labels mark 'Soft pitch with direct link' and 'Engagement call'.

Why it works:

  • Personal story — relatable opening gets attention.
  • Shows real results — builds trust with the audience.
  • Soft pitch — product mention fits naturally into the post.
  • Direct link — makes it easy for followers to buy.
  • Engagement call — ends with “If you’re also… hit 🔥” to encourage reactions.

Mix personal wins with your offers — it sells without feeling salesy.
